Power testing & athlete advocacy
We want to help promising Canadian cyclists get seen by the world’s best development teams and better understand what it takes to get there.
Why?
More pro teams have fully integrated devo development programs.
Recruiting is happening earlier
Getting into the pro development teams is becoming “the new pathway”. Training is changing, the physical capabilities of what high potential athletes looks like is evolving.
This initiative to give Canadian athletes a simple way to benchmark against meaningful performance standards and increase visibility with teams.

Unified testing with Sharke
As the program has grown, BTG partnered with Sharke Coaching, led by Canadian professional sports director Shawn Clarke, establishing one unified national testing platform.
Sharke manages the testing platform and athlete advocacy. BTG continues using the results to support grants, camps, athlete development initiatives and research.
Simple Test
Complete the standardized power test using your own bike, trainer or power meter. Athletes are recommended to do it 3-4 times a year.
Upload
Submit your results through the Sharke testing platform so they can be tracked, compared and included in the national athlete database.
Advocacy
Sharke reviews testing data to identify promising performances, benchmark athletes and help increase their visibility with professional and development teams.
BTG uses testing information to support athlete grants, camps, research and other development initiatives.
