My first year racing as an elite woman
The 2014 season so far has been a really great experience, with its fair share of ups and downs. Moving into my first year racing as an elite woman, I’ve been privileged enough to ride alongside the awesome ladies on Trek Red Truck p/b Mosaic Homes, an extremely supportive development team who have really helped me grow as a rider on the road this year. The season opened with San Dimas and Redlands, both in California. With a crash in training the day before San Dimas, I had a rough start to the season and knew I had a lot of work to do in order to get where I wanted for Nationals and Superweek. A busy schedule of races in the United States and BC followed, with some solid results for the women of Trek Red Truck culminating in a GC win for me in Banff and a podium sweep for TRT.
Training this year has involved a lot of trainer intervals and motorpacing, trying to take my time trial up to more of an elite level. Heading into Superweek and the second half of the season, I’m excited to hopefully see some of my hard work pay off. I’m incredibly excited to compete for the first time in Gastown this year – it’s an amazing location that draws some of the biggest names in women’s cycling. A big thanks to Global Relay for putting on such an awesome event!
